On and off rain showers did not stop the crowd from funneling into the Bolyston Schul-Verein (BSV) on Saturday, June 10th. The Walpole German American Club hosted their annual Sommerfest on both Saturday and Sunday and it certainly did not disappoint!

Families and friends packed this outdoor venue, some wearing traditional German clothing in honor of this spectacular event. There was something for everyone to enjoy while there, including a massive amount of food and drinks.

Altogether there were fifteen German & Austrian Breweries, ten unique beer styles, and twenty-one total beer options. If beer was not your thing, there were an abundance of other cocktails to enjoy, including wines and seltzers. While drinking your beverage of choice, one could indulge in an array of food choices either by the BSV themselves or the seven additional food trucks in attendance.

Music played all throughout the event, including a live performance by German Band, Die Istigen Almdudler. In between all of this action, multiple games were set up for everyone to participate in. Some of which included an archery shooting booth, Jagdclub Averhan shooting booth, corn hole, fencing, and of course, the playground for little ones to run around on.

Attendees also had the option to shop around to different vendors selling all sorts of German goods including jewelry, handmade ceramics, German and European decorative items, steins, and more.

President of the BSV, Angela DeMartino, was absolutely thrilled with the turnout of the event. After months of planning, she reveled in just how happy everyone was and how truly incredible  the whole event turned out to be. DeMartino went on to mention, “This event is for the community and the children. We just want to bring everyone together. … It’s like the Oktoberfest in June which means we are going to have a lot of fun.”

There was never a dull moment throughout the event and everyone was seen having an excellent time. For more information on upcoming events and/or how to become a member, please visit the BSV website at www.germanclub.org
