The Walpole Council on Aging has a multitude of fun events for seniors to partake in before the summer is over. Recently among them: local seniors joined Pat Connell from The Flower Lab to create their own unique masterpieces.

Rita Forrester and her daughter Susan Lipsett work together on an arrangement.

This fun and easygoing event was open to individuals of all abilities, and Connell offered simple design tips for arranging flowers and transforming a simple bouquet from basic to breathtaking.

When it comes to tips on floral arrangement, Connell has sage advice. It’s about doing your own work and enjoying the process. She discourages lookalike work, and sometimes hides displays to see what kind of creativity can be presented.

“They enjoy creating something on their own," explained Connell. "It creates joy and gives them the drive to say ‘yeah, I can do this.' It’s social, as well as working a new skill and creating an arrangement to take home.”

The florists for the day were able to take home their centerpieces and share the joy of nature and creativity with family and friends.

The Walpole Council on Aging hosts a multitude of programs every week for seniors. From fitness to entertainment, their diverse event schedule is available in-person or online at https://www.walpole-ma.gov/council-on-aging.

Pat Connell will be visiting again on Wednesday, September 14 at 9:30. Connell is also receiving private bookings via email at pdconnell44@gmail.com.
