“Fairytales, Feminism, and Falconry” will be presented by Arielle K. Harris, local author of fantasy novels, on Saturday afternoon, January 14, at 1:00 p.m at the Walpole Library. The presentation is part of the Author Series, sponsored by the Friends of the Walpole Public Library.
Arielle K. Harris spent her formative years in Scotland, which she says has irreversibly confused her accent and spelling conventions. Lately, she has returned to her hometown in Massachusetts, where she finished her first novel, “Bestial,” and is raising her young son. Arielle writes stories that focus on the human experience through the lens of fantasy, posing questions about reality through the means of unreality.
About her book, “Bestial,” Harris writes that “it’s the story of a Beauty and a Beast – only not as you know them. A young woman changed into a bestial creature, seeking redemption. Two twin brothers, one with all the emotional sensation and one with all the common sense – one balanced person, split in two bodies. Their lives and fates intertwine, and none of them shall escape unchanged, or unscathed.”
All are welcome to the Community Room of the Walpole Public Library to enjoy this free program. Further details are available at www.walpolelibraryfriends.org.
