Hootstein is Outstanding Student of the Year

The Walpole Recreation Department is pleased to announce that department team member Sara Hootstein has received the 2017 Massachusetts Recreation and Parks Association annual Outstanding Student of the Year Award. The Award was given at the MRPA annual conference in Worcester in March, during which hundreds of park and recreation professionals gather for networking activities, education sessions, and an inside look at the latest products for the field of recreation.

Walpole Recreation’s Sara Hootstein was honored with the 2017 Massachusetts Recreation and Parks Association annual Outstanding Student of the Year Award.

The award is given to students who demonstrate serious interest in pursuing a career in the field of Parks, Recreation, and Leisure Services. Sara, a senior at Bridgewater State University, will be graduating this spring with a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Administration. In addition to the many programs and services that Sara has overseen in her time with the Walpole Recreation Department, she will be directing the upcoming Pathfinders program for Middle School students at Jarvis Farm this summer. Sara has been working with the Walpole Recreation Department since May 2016.

The Walpole Recreation Department oversees hundreds of programs for the Walpole community each year, including special community events, youth and teen programs, aquatics, adult programs, field trips, and more.
