The Walpole Council on Aging (COA) is a critical part of the Walpole community and their programs during December have been no different. The COA has been hosting a “December Daily” crafting time where everyone involved receives an album to decorate as they see fit. This is a weekly program where all of the dedicated crafters get together to work on their albums and spend time amongst friends. The event is held each Wednesday in the early hours of the afternoon.
This program was started by Kerri McManama, the director of the COA. Marilyn Healy, a member of the COA, hosts the event each week. The COA offers an array of supplies for the members of the program including ribbons, decorative tapes, stickers, paper and much more.
The December Daily program was designed to help the community to be able to get through December, which is notoriously known as a difficult month. Due to the colder weather and the holidays, December can be a very challenging month for the COA community, and the December Daily was created to give them a way to celebrate the good things the month has to offer. Some people are using their albums to track visits with family, the weather, the birds they see each morning.
Not everyone is always able to make the events, especially with the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, but Healy is there every week. She loves these types of programs as well as the entirety of the Council on Aging. She praised the community provided by the COA, expressing delight in the utilization of its space and the array of programs available. Enthusiastically, she presented her album and discussed her future plans for additional pages, while also highlighting the impressive creations of fellow members.
The Walpole Council on Aging organizes numerous events in December to bolster community support during the holiday season, with the December Daily serving as just one example. Comprehensive assistance is extended to diverse communities in Walpole throughout December and the entire year.
