Bird Park conducting membership drive

With the warmer weather, visits to Bird Park in Walpole increase significantly. Many walk the 3-plus miles of paths and trails. Some take their children to the play area. Some play basketball on the courts or fly kites on the field. Many enjoy the variety of events and programs offered: magic, music, yoga, live animal shows, juggling, a kids’ bike workshop, a Native American walk, and an outdoor community art exhibit are some of the offerings this summer at the park.

Those who enjoy the park and value having such a special place nearby now have a chance to show it. Bird Park is launching its annual membership drive, with a goal of obtaining 100 new memberships this year.

Membership is the single best way to support the park, which is run by the nonprofit The Trustees of Reservations. The Trustees relies on membership to support its mission of preserving, for public use and enjoyment, properties of scenic, historic, and ecological value in Massachusetts. The first nonprofit conservation organization of its kind in the country, The Trustees has been preserving special places like Bird Park for over 126 years.

By becoming a member, one not only supports Bird Park, but also helps to keep open spaces open across Massachusetts. Additionally, members enjoy free or reduced admission to The Trustees’ 116 properties, as well as discounts at gift shops, cafes, inns, campgrounds, programs, and events.

Memberships done through the Bird Park Office support Bird Park directly; those who are already members are asked to consider renewing through the Bird Park Office. There’s no penalty for renewing early. Membership remains valid 12 months from the expiration date of one's current membership.

An individual membership is $50 and a family membership is $70, with a $10 discount for seniors (65+). Membership dues are 100 percent federally tax-deductible.

As an added bonus, free Bird Park tee-shirts are being offered to those who become a member through the park this year. To become a member through the park, contact Maura, Bird Park’s Engagement Manager, at (508-668-6136) or [email protected], or stop by the office at the park.
