The real story of the early Pilgrim settlers will be told by historian Christopher Daley in his talk, "1620 – The First Year," when he returns to the Community Room of the Walpole Public Library, located on 143 School Street. The presentation begins at 7:00 on Thursday evening, November 21. Sponsored by the Friends of the Walpole Public Library, admission is free and all are welcome. More details are available at www.walpolelibraryfriends.org.
As the 400th Anniversary of the landing of the Pilgrims approaches, we are reminded of the trials and tribulations of the Pilgrims. They came seeking religious freedom and found an untamed inhospitable wilderness fraught with innumerable dangers. They struggled with disease and death, but survived through the grace of God (as they believed), and with the help of the "People of the Dawn" - the Wampanoag Nation.
Christopher Daley has been lecturing all over New England for over 25 years on historical topics of interest, at libraries, historical societies, schools, and all sorts of clubs and organizations.
