As the autumn leaves completed their descent, Dover-Sherborn sports teams achieved notable success during the fall of 2023. The season was a rollercoaster of emotions for our athletes, marked by thrilling victories and triumphs. Here is a comprehensive overview of the post-season tournaments and the accomplishments of each team.
The Raiders' girls' soccer team showcased outstanding skills and talent throughout the season, finishing with a 14-3-1 record despite falling short in the semi-finals of the postseason. Their remarkable eight-game winning streak during the regular season included 11 shutout victories, with the highest-scoring game being a 10-0 win against Bellingham High in their first match.
The boys' soccer team also had a strong season, advancing to the round of eight in playoff competition and concluding with a 10-6-2 record. With nine shutout games, including tournament matches, the varsity team exhibited grit and strength, displaying growth both as players and teammates on and off the field.
Dover-Sherborn football demonstrated determination throughout the season, finishing with a 3-5 record and achieving a notable win against Medway High mid-season with a score of 40-33.
In field hockey, the Raiders played with strong defense and offensive prowess, reaching the semi-finals and putting on an outstanding performance against the top-seeded Newburyport team. Finishing with a 14-2-2 record, the girls showcased excellent stick skills and communication on and off the field.
Both cross country teams left their mark on the fall season, with the girls achieving a perfect 5-0 record and the boys finishing 4-1. The girls earned the TVL small title and placed second in the Division II State Championship, with notable individual performances from Margaret Bowles (9th place), Molloy (32nd place), and Aidan Pearsall (25th place).
In boys varsity golf, the Raiders had a spectacular season, finalizing their record at 14-2 with an eight-match winning streak. A particularly riveting round of golf occurred towards the end of the season when Dover-Sherborn won by just three points against Medfield, with a final score of 220-223.
The fall sports season for the Raiders has been a journey of growth, both individually and collectively. Beyond mere competition, the teams have evolved, honing their skills, overcoming challenges, and discovering the depths of their resilience. As we conclude the fall season, we celebrate not only the on-field victories but also the personal achievements that have shaped these athletes.
