The Westwood 12A baseball team recently traveled to Sandwich, MA, to participate in the annual Sandwich Summer Blast Tournament.
The Westwood Little League 12A team played in the 16 team tournament and won the championship. The boys had to play four playoff games on the final day, beating Hingham in game one, Canton in game two, and Sandwich in game three, before taking on powerhouse Plymouth in the championship game. Westwood captured the victory with an amazing 8-5 win.
This is the first time, to anyone's knowledge, that any Westwood team has every won the Sandwich Tournament; this despite the fact that Westwood Little League has been entering teams at every age and level for over ten years. The victory, to say the least, is a historic one.
The boys now continue their Suburban League summer schedule and will look to defend their championship crown from last season.
The team is comprised of: Thomas Warren, Jack Ende, Sean Trusevich, Tyler Korchin, Caleb Merideth, Brendan Matthews, Sean Quinn, Drew Donegan, Jack Ende, Max Boehl, Brian Burke, Mathew Preti.
