The girls first varsity four from the Nobles & Greenough school in Dedham came from behind with a late surge to win the New England Interscholastic Rowing Association (NEIRA) championship regatta at Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester. The team was comprised of five seniors, all with local ties, including coxswain Sammi Janower (Needham) and rowers Caroline Kinghorn (Needham), Alex Poole (Dedham), Sarah Averill (Dedham) and Julia Trull (Wellesley). Coached by Blair Crawford, this group won the New England championship last spring, followed by a third place finish at the Head of the Charles. This year's win was within 0.9 seconds of rival Deerfield and helped Nobles to take home the coveted team points trophy. After graduation, all five athletes will be rowing at the Division I college level with Janower at Penn, Trull at UVA, Poole at BC, Averill and Kinghorn at Harvard.
