Rain or shine, game on!

Medfield High School’s (MHS) boys’ hockey team put on their first annual street hockey tournament on June 17th at MHS. Captains of next year’s Varsity team, Owen DuRoss, Charlie Hardiman, Gavin Marmai, and Zach Palmer, organized a fun day that raised money for the Varsity and JV teams for the 2023-2024 season.

Kids from grades three to upcoming seniors, plus a few MHS alums, came out in the rain to play street hockey and coin the first champion. The upcoming 7th grade team, Pavement Destroyers, took home the refurbished Medfield Youth Hockey Mites trophy, complete with a new tape plate over the old gold plaque, declaring them the champions. Like true Warriors with the real prize being bragging rights, it was an added bonus that each member of the winning team received a personalized pair of ISlides. The Destroyers players were Avery Stein, Nolan O’Keeffe, Owen Kelly, and Alexander Bird.

The MHS boys hockey teams hope to make this a regular event to help promote Medfield hockey, build community, and raise much needed funds for ice time, banquets, practices, and gear for Varsity and JV players. Thank you to all players and parents who participated, and especially to our sponsors who generously donated funds that covered t-shirts, drinks, pizza, and prizes!

Sponsors: Medfield Alumni Association, Parental Grind Coffee Co., Center for Sports PT & Training, Bird’s Hill Compounding Pharmacy, Noon Hill Grill, Aulenback Plumbing & Heating, Tracy Davignon with Suburban Lifestyle Real Estate, P.S. I Love You 9821, and ISlide USA.

See you in the fall for the next MHS Street Hockey Tournament!
