The Medfield U12 baseball team dropped a hard fought final game to Braintree in the Suburban Baseball League championship last Saturday in Westwood. Despite the final loss, Medfield U12 wrapped up a great season, which included numerous tournament titles and a District 11 Championship.
Things looked good for Medfield early on when they got of to a fast start with a leadoff double by outfielder Jimmy Chadwick. Chadwick would come around to score on a sacrifice fly giving the Medfield boys a 1-0 lead over a very strong Braintree team. Pitchers Ben Sleboda and Sam Kornet threw well against a powerful lineup of Braintree hitters, ultimately surrendering 6 runs.
Medfield attempted a rally in the sixth inning but the effort was thwarted when Medfield shortstop Jack Goodman’s potential homerun was robbed by Braintree outfielder. Braintree went on to take the game 6-2.
