Medfield U12 Battles On

Following the controversy in Medford, Medfield played in the Battle of the Banner Tournament in Dighton, going 6-0 to win the championship while outscoring their opponents 70-6 over the weekend. They were lead by great pitching in the finals on Sunday and 2 home runs each by Jack Goodman, Charlie Walsh and Sam Palmer.

The team continues play in the Suburban Youth Baseball League playoffs. They defeated Dedham in their first playoff game 4-3. The bats were quiet until the bottom of the 5th inning. Down 3-0, Nate Baacke lead off the 5th with a walk and pitcher Ben Sleboda followed with a long two run home run.

After the next batter Matt Donohue was hit by a pitch, catcher Charlie Walsh followed with the second 2 run home run of the inning, giving the Warriors a lead. Sleboda got Dedham in order in the sixth to secure the victory.

At time of print, Medfield will play the winner of Braintree and Milton on Tuesday evening in the league quarter-finals.
