The Dover-Sherborn Raiders took on the Norwell Clippers on October 28, for their second to last game of the season. Their overall play gave them a good shot at winning, but Norwell was able to come out on top. The Raiders put up a good fight but Norwell was able to shut them out for a final score of 0-4.
Both teams came out strong, and Dover-Sherborn showed promising defensive power. Sophomore goalie Piper Abbett turned away many shots on goal, assisted by her team. Freshman Maya Hagan was a force, forcing Norwell back into their own zone. Senior Amari Hughes was another strong defensive presence. Norwell was able to sneak through to put them up 1-0 heading into the second half. Dover-Sherborn had a strong offensive power, racking up several shots on goal, but they could not sneak past Norwell’s goalie.
Dover-Sherborn kicked up their defense for the second half. Senior Hayden Sumner was fighting hard to keep possession of the ball. Just two minutes into the second half Norwell scored their second goal. Dover-Sherborn put up several scoring attempts thanks to their offensive players. Freshman Raedyn Garzone was a key player in the offensive attempts. Freshman Berin Gulden kept inserting herself into Norwell's plays to break apart passes and gain control of the ball. Norwell was able to pocket two more goals before the final horn, shutting out Dover-Sherborn.
The Dover-Sherborn girl's soccer team fought hard all season, totaling a 9-6-3 record. They finished the regular season against Bellingham on October 29, winning 5-2. The Raiders are currently fighting for the State Championship, having advanced to the playoffs. They faced off against Archbishop Williams High School on Wednesday, November 6.
