Needham Park and Recreation and DPW Parks and Forestry are teaming up for Needham’s annual Fall Town-Wide Clean-Up Saturday, October 14. Individuals, families, clubs, groups, and teams are all invited to lend a hand to help keep Needham beautiful. Park and Recreation staff will be on hand at the Public Services Administration Building (500 Dedham Avenue) from 8:30-11:00 a.m. to hand out trash bags and assign locations.
Residents may sign up for their favorite town location or have one assigned to them on the day of the event. Large groups can be accommodated by emailing Robyn Fink (rfink@needhamma.gov) with the total number of people; she can help arrange a clean-up location prior to the event. At the end of the event, DPW Parks and Forestry will round up all of the trash bags to weigh them so participants can see just how much of an impact they can have on the community. Last fall, the collection yielder over 700 pounds of trash.
All participants will receive a 10-percent-off coupon to any winter/spring Park and Recreation program as a “thank you” for lending a hand. The participant who guesses the closest to the poundage collected will receive a free winter/spring Park and Recreation program.
Attendees are asked to dress according to the day’s weather and bring their work gloves; the event will happen rain or shine.
Registration is requested to ensure enough supplies are available throughout the day. There are three easy ways to register - online (www.needhamma.gov/pronlinereg), in person, or by mail (PSAB – 500 Dedham Avenue, Needham, MA 02492).
