The Zullo Gallery has announced its summer classes.
They are described as follows:
Art Explorations • drawing/mixed media (For students in grades 1-4)
Monday, July 8 - Friday, July 12 (9:30 - 12:00)
This class will combine drawing skills - from beginner to advanced - with a wide variety of media. Each child will have the opportunity to develop their artistic skills at their own pace with individual instruction in a small group setting.
Artist Studio (For students in grades 1-3)
Monday, July 15 - Friday, July 19 (9:30 - 12:00)
Students will be free to choose from a variety of mediums: i.e. drawing, painting, scratchboard, mixed media, etc. and a variety of subjects i.e., cartoon figures, landscapes, collage, still life, portraits etc. to develop their artistic skills in a small group setting with individual guidance from the instructor.
Cartoons + Clay/drawing and building (For students in grades 3-6)
Monday, July 22 - Friday, July 26 (9:30 - 12:00)
This class will help students learn how to develop form, texture, shading and positive and negative space by using several techniques with charcoal and pencil while using some of their favorite cartoon figures as subjects. The students will focus on cartoon drawing as well as proportions of the human body. Caricature drawing will also be touched upon. In addition, students will have the opportunity to bring their drawings into the three dimensional world by building them out of clay.
Beginners Digital Art Class (For students in grades 4-7)
Monday, July 29 - Friday, August 2 (9:30 - 12:00)
Children will learn basic digital photography skills and techniques. We will take indoor and outdoor photos with a thematic approach, and then explore concepts in digital imaging and color. Students should come with a digital camera, or one can be provided. Students will go home with an enlargement of their choice, as well as a photo journal with images they explored throughout the week.
All classes will be instructed by Kurt Jackson, a professional artist and storyteller and currently teaches at the Medfield After School Program. For students who have previously taken a class, new subjects and activities will be introduced.
