The Medfield Public Library (MPL) held a Vision Board Workshop for local patrons. According to the MPL website, “a Vision Board is a visual representation of your dreams, passions, strengths, goals, and aspirations for 2025.”
Several women came together in the community room to craft their dreams into reality. The program was led by a woman named Jill, who first explained the purpose and the process of creating a vision board. Before everyone was welcome to begin piecing together visions for the year ahead, Jill guided patrons through a meditation to help them to turn their focus on what they most desire to achieve or experience this year. Though the room filled with silence, patrons minds filled with possibility.
The program director suggested to the crafters that if they were searching for specific images or phrases to write it on the board because other participants may find these desired materials as they sought to fulfill the discovery of their own visions.
The library provided books, magazines, patterned paper, glue sticks, scissors, and markers while Jill provided a variety of unique images, poster boards, and displays to inspire the attendees.
Through the beginning of the program, the women worked in silence as they carefully curated the images, phrases, and overall vision for their unique boards. But as the program progressed, attendees shared materials, discussed their vision boards, and dreams for the year ahead. Visions for 2025 were varied: some focused on travel or health while others focused on family and personal growth.
At the end of the program, those who had completed their vision boards shared their collages and hopes with the others. Those who had yet to finish collected their materials and moved on to finish their boards at home.
Jill instructed everyone to hang their vision boards in a place where they would see it frequently to help them keep a clear sense of direction, encourage them to take action towards achieving these desires, and help them to stay focused on the bigger picture that they aspire for their lives throughout the rest of 2025.
