Last Friday, varsity swim went up against the Dover-Sherborn Raiders at Blue Hills Regional Technical School for their first meet of the year. The last time they met, the Raiders beat both the boys’ and girls’ swim teams, though the Warriors’ girls won in the 2021–2022 and 2022–2023 seasons, while the boys won in 2023–2024.
Last year, the girls’ team was 2–6 and the boys’ was 1–5. The boys had one particularly close meet last year when they lost to Dedham by only two points and will have their rematch on January 16th. Dover-Sherborn girls’ had an 8–0 season while the boys’ team was 4–2.

On Friday, the Dover-Sherborn girls’ team beat the Warriors 100–76, taking the first two races, the 200 yard medley relay and the 200 yard freestyle. The Warriors got their first win in the 200 yard individual medley, but were beaten in the next two events, the 50 yard freestyle and the 100 yard butterfly. The girls then earned first place in the 100 yard freestyle but the Raiders took the 500 yard freestyle, the 200 yard freestyle relay, the 100 yard backstroke, the 100 yard breaststroke, and finally the 400 yard freestyle relay.
The boys’ score was a little closer at 61–79, improving from their 68–96 defeat last year. After the Raiders took first place in the 200 yard freestyle, the Warriors won the 200 yard individual medley and 50 yard freestyle. They then alternated, the 100 yard butterfly going to the Raiders, the 100 yard freestyle to the Warriors, and then the 500 yard freestyle to the Raiders. Medfield responded by placing first in the 200 yard freestyle relay, the 100 yard backstroke, and the 100 yard breaststroke. Dover-Sherborn then took the final event, the 400 yard freestyle relay.
Tomorrow evening at 6:00, the Warriors will take on the Hopkinton Hillers at Blue Hills Regional Technical High School for their third meet of the season. Last year, the Hillers’ girls’ team was 1–5 but defeated Medfield 84–47 while their boys’ team won 82–73. The Warriors will not have another meet after that until Tuesday the 19th at 4:30, when they will face the Canton Bulldogs at Blue Hills. Last year, the girls’ Bulldogs team was 3–2 while the boys’ team went 5–0, but Medfield and Canton have not met in the last few seasons.
