Medfield is slowly returning to more densely-populated, normal life, now that the summer holidays are over. Parents can find great school lunch-box snacks at the weekly Farmers’ Market, located in front of the historic First Parish Meeting House on North St. each Thursday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Fortunately, as the season for the market comes to an end, its harvest contains even greater diversity of snack offerings in the way of veggies and fruit for lunch boxes. Ask the honey vendor about those beeswax wraps that are an attractive alternative to plastic wrap. There also are sweets at the church bake sale table to eat while shopping (proceeds donated for maintenance of historic building) or to enhance the lunch boxes. To brighten up a dorm room, what could be better than a bright wall hanging from the fabric artist or greeting cards to keep on hand so a loved one is never forgotten? Back to school, off to college or a first job, the market may have something for everyone - all in one place and out in the fresh air. There is ample free parking behind the church building or along North St
For kids who ride their bikes to school instead of the bus, a bike service is on hand for a last minute servicing. The maintenance men may be late, because they are students who have school first. Younger children not yet of school age will find colorful puzzles to keep them busy while parents shop.
Unfortunately, this great amenity has to come to an end shortly, so residents need to visit soon and stock up on the fresh produce and other offerings that make meals and life more interesting. There is probably no more than a month or less of the weekly offerings.
