The Board of Trustees of the Medfield Memorial Public Library recently announced the appointment of Pamela Gardner as Library Director. Gardner served as interim director since June and was appointed the new director at the Trustees Meeting on Thursday, December 13.
Gardner received her Bachelors degree from St. John's College in Annapolis, MD, and her Masters in Library and Information Science from Syracuse University. Previous to coming to Medfield, Gardner was the Marketing Librarian at the Wilmington Memorial Library and was hired in Medfield in August of 2015 as the Adult Services/Technology Librarian at the Medfield Public Library. "Coming to Medfield in that job position was exactly what I wanted to be doing as a librarian at that time," stated Gardner.
Having been appointed as Library Director, Gardner is excited about this opportunity. "I'm so happy to continue working with this incredible team of library staff, Trustees and Friends of the Medfield Library volunteers," she said.
The Public Library is vibrant and constantly moving forward with programming and services. "We hold programs for all ages," Gardner explained. "Our lending library is much more than books - we have everything from toys to gardening tools and in addition to our popular Makerspace area, we recently developed a Teen Space within this past year, and the teens love it!"
When asked what Gardner sees as her goals as director, she stated that she would like to expand on making the Medfield Library a welcoming space for the entire community. She went on to say that she will soon start work on developing a new five-year Strategic Plan for the Library, and will be reaching out to the community for input.
The Medfield Public Library serves over 100,000 patrons annually and has an average of 27,000 visitors to its website.
