Locals enjoy summer sounds

The ongoing event of Summer Sounds hosted at the Bellforge Arts Center returned this past Wednesday, July 27th. The headliners for this evening included performances by Little Fuss and Jay Alan, both of which are rising homegrown artists. The event as a whole was sponsored by Holistic Wellness Center.

Although the weather was a bit warm, crowds of people filled the lawn to hear some amazing music while also enjoying delicious food from a BBQ food truck. To pair with the BBQ, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks were served for all to enjoy. For the little ones, there was a booth set up in the back with free crafts and activities including bracelet making.

Jean Mineo, who was seen running the event, mentioned just how important concerts like these are for not only the Bellforge but also for the town of Medfield. She continually stated, “We are doing weekly, free, live music events. Mostly it’s about building the audience and building awareness for what we are building physically. It’s getting people used to the idea of coming here, finding us, coming here for cultural events and activities.”

With new renovations happening next year to the property, Mineo wants to make sure that the Bellforge Arts Center stays on the map during that time and events like these are just the thing to do so.

In hindsight, events within the summer can be tricky for places like The Bellforge since many families tend to take the time to travel. For those who do stick around / are in between vacations, Mineo wants them to have a place where the whole family can come to enjoy a relaxing time filled with good food and great music.

In terms of this summer’s turnouts, Mineo revealed, “We started off on the other lawn during April, May and the beginning of June. As people start to leave town, we switch to the lawn we are currently on which makes it a little more intimate. We have had great turnouts for weeknights. Over 200 people on a Wednesday night is awesome. We didn’t have that many last year on a Saturday let alone a week night.”

As these events come and go, The Bellforge Arts Center is gaining immense popularity and rightly so. In the end, Mineo wants this to become a favorite place for the community where beautiful art and music can be made.
