The Warriors had a very successful season last year with an 18–2 record and the championship title for the second year in a row when they, the 1st-seeded team, defeated 6th-seeded South High Community School 62–20. Before their home game against Dover-Sherborn on December 19th, Medfield also recognized Head Coach Mark Nickerson with a banner for earning the MIAA Coach of the Year award for girls’ basketball in the 2024-2025 season.

In their game against the Dover-Sherborn Raiders (who last year were 2–18), the Warriors took an early 9–0 lead after senior Stella Scobbo hit a 3-pointer. Fans were very excited when junior Naya Annigeri also made two 3’s, the second of which was in the last minute of the first quarter. The Warriors entered the second quarter up 35–4, where senior Tess Baacke had an impressive layup attempt and Annigeri put away another 3-pointer and later blocked an inbounding pass from Dover-Sherborn.

The third quarter began at 54–9 and the crowd was cheering when senior Ava Pender made both of her foul shots. Later, Annigeri blew past two Dover-Sherborn defenders and passed it to freshman Annie Smits, who took and made a 3-point shot. The quarter ended at 70–15. In the fourth quarter, Smits made another 3-pointer and the game ended with a Warriors’ win, 78–27.

On December 23rd, the Warriors entered their third game of the year, now with a 2–0 record, to face the Ashland Clockers (1–3) at home. Last year Ashland was 5–15 and fell to the Warriors 28–80. The matchup this year was also tough for the Clockers, Medfield winning 77–19.

This weekend, the Warriors will have traveled to Londonderry High School in New Hampshire for a tournament, the New England Girls Basketball Winter Classic, where they will have faced Bedford (NH) on Saturday the 28th, Pinkerton Academy on Sunday the 29th, and finally Londonderry High in a scrimmage on Monday the 30th. Last year, Bedford won the New Hampshire Division 1 title while Londonderry and Pinkerton were runners-up.

Following the tournament, the Warriors will have a brief break before returning on Monday, January 5th for a home game against Norwood at 6:30. That Wednesday, they will travel to Dedham High School to face the Marauders at 5:30, and will finish the week at home, playing Bellingham on Friday at 6:00.
