The Bellforge Arts Center recently hosted their end of the season family event, entitled Fun At The ‘Forge: Fall Edition. This event returned to the grounds of the former Medfield State Hospital after the success of the Spring edition of this event. This event was created to place the spotlight onto the younger generations, inviting local families to enjoy a Saturday filled with fun.
Families flocked to the ‘Forge at 10am for face painting and shortly after the first performance took place: ‘Marvels of Motion Show’ by Mad Science. Children were welcomed to sit before the stage and engage in a variety of science experiments with that day's resident “Mad Scientist.” This specific program focused specifically on Newton’s Laws of Motion and explored the rules that govern reality.
After the science program concluded, children were in for a magical hour with Bonaparté. He is a world renowned magician who is highly regarded by leading professionals in the entertainment industry and it is easy to see why; Bonaparté dazzled the crowd with his delightful and silly sense of humor, engaging children and adults alike. He had a unique blend of intriguing magical tricks, comedic routines, and mind reading as a part of his performance.
For the final act of the event, children welcomed Marcos Valles of Rockabye Beats to the stage. Kids were invited to dance, sing, and clap along. The inviting nature of this performance had children of all ages on their feet, ready to move and groove to the variety of tunes performed.
The Goats of Dover were also on the grounds and families were invited to pet and feed these adorable creatures. This hands-on experience with the goats was definitely a fan-favorite part of this event as many families found themselves wandering in and out of the pen, delighted children in tow.
Aside from providing wonderful entertainment opportunities for families, children were able to showcase their variety of talents with the kids vendor booths. In between performances, families weaved through the grounds to visit these booths. These talented, young crafters were selling their unique wares, offering items such as masks, friendship bracelets, and seaglass for example. This list of these young entrepreneurs includes: Flying Slug Jewelry by Annalise Conley, Turtle Studios Art and Design by Hannah Wilson, Noura’s Naturals by Noura Sperling, Kandponpaws by Pax Welch-Wood, SolarClover by Sonya Moiseyeva, Coyote Creations by Ellery Merand, Made Just For You by the Lius, Besties! By Charlotte & Bennett Call, Saltworks Creations by Connor & Emma Frey, Sea Glass Greetings (and Sew Sassy) by Molly Bolton, Cole’s Crafts by Cole Kirkby, Cat’s Designs by Cathryn McNally, Lucy’s Colorful Creations by Lucy Droege, and Potholders & Keychains by Jenna Fitek.
Fun At The ‘Forge: Fall Edition was a huge success and Medfielders can’t wait for this event to return in the spring.
