The Medfield Library is known for its fantastic programs for children and teens, but its adult-only events are just as amazing. They recently held an adult craft night on July 11, 2024, for a small but enthusiastic group, creating beautiful postcards in an evening of relaxing crafts.
The library has offered these classes before, including journal making, but this time it was bleeding tissue paper postcards. This simple craft included bleeding tissue paper, water, crayons, and blank postcards. The end product was beautiful watercolored postcards attendees could send to their friends and family.
Hosted by Adult Services and Programming Librarian Bri Ozanne, the class went amazingly. Crafters of all skill levels helped each other figure out the best ways to create colorful patterns. This was a fairly straightforward craft, utilizing water to bleed the colors of the tissue paper onto the thicker postcard paper.
As soon as the class began, participants swapped stories about who they would send the postcards to. Many had friends and family outside of the state they wanted to check in on with a card, while others wanted to share them with more local relatives. This program also offered people a place to catch up with their friends and meet new people.
The Medfield Library offers countless programs for its adult patrons, including game nights, book clubs, sewing classes, knitting clinics, and so much more. These programs bring together a crowd of dedicated folks looking to be around people their age and engage in a tailored program. Most of the events are hosted in the library, which offers a space for other family members to check out books and games while the adults take part in the program.
The bleeding tissue paper postcards were another great event for adults from the Medfield Library. A schedule of all programs for all ages can be found on the library's website. There is sure to be something for everyone at the library this summer. From music to coding to all-genre book clubs, there is no better time to get involved with the library than now.
