Kiddos and their families enjoyed an amazing day outside on the lawn of the Dover Town Library this past Tuesday, July 25th. They hosted their annual Summer Fun Fair event that included games, food and a bunch of prizes.
Smiles were seen in every direction as little ones ran around and enjoyed the perfect day. Happening right before the heatwave coming into New England, everyone lucked out with a perfect 80 degree day.
Dover Town Librarian Nancy was running the event and stated that they had close to 200 people attend. She also is the one who comes up with each unique game that the kids can play. This year, there were nine games which included a duck pond, penny drop into water, a tattoo station, ring toss, obstacle course, egg on a spoon races, cake walk, baseball throw, and bean bag toss.
After completing each game, kiddos were given a medal that they could wear around their necks.
One of the most popular games at this event was the cake walk. Much like musical chairs, youngsters would stand on any number within the circle and wait for the music to start playing. Once started, they would walk around clockwise to the next number until the music stopped. Volunteers would then reach into a bag and pick out one of the numbers within the circle. If the number you were standing on was called, you won a cupcake!
An added bonus for this special event was the appearance of Mr. Vinny the Bubble Guy. Throughout the day, he would make enormous bubbles for kids to run around and pop. As the bubbles floated in the air, he would cheer on everyone as they ran around, determined to pop as many bubbles as they could.
In terms of the overall fair, Nancy went on to mention, “We have quite an event going on here today. We do this every year, except for the two years Covid hit. It’s a lowkey, free, chill fair. It’s super fun for the kids to play all these games. We love to do this each year for them and their families.”
