Is Sherborn’s Number One Dog living at your house? Town Clerk Carole Marple is asking residents to send in photos of their dogs this fall and maybe - just maybe - your dog will be chosen best of show. The winning dog will receive Sherborn 2017 dog license tag #1 for free and be featured in a newspaper photo.
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts requires that dogs be licensed to ensure that all dogs are vaccinated against rabies. “It’s a public safety issue,” the Sherborn Town Clerk explained.
Marple said she hopes to inject a little fun into the licensing process. She plans to display as many photos as possible in Town Hall. Residents often bring their dogs to Town Hall and frequent visitors know where the dog treats are kept. “We love meeting dogs and kids—especially babies of either kind,” Marple enthused.
The name and address of the dog and owner contact information must be on the back of each photo. Photos will be accepted until January 16. Photographs are non-returnable and may be dropped off at Town Hall in the Clerk’s Office or mailed to Sherborn Town Clerk, 19 Washington Street, Sherborn. Judging will be anonymous by independent judges. If you send in a picture, your dog just might be named Sherborn’s Number One Dog for 2017
