Mushroom madness at the DTL

The Dover Town Library (DTL) hosted a Mushroom Madness Craft Extravaganza. Leading this event was Mandy Roberge from Wicked Good Henna.

Tweens and teens gathered together in the Community Room of the DTL ready to partake in multiple mushroom-related crafts. Even if they did not particularly like eating mushrooms, everyone could find something to love about these activities.

Roberge had different stations set up around the room that teens could float around to. Many started off with painting their very own ceramic mushroom using a variety of paints and jewels. If their mushrooms were still not dry by the end, Roberge even brought along a hair dryer to help the paint dry a little faster.

Once attendees had finished painting, they moved on to the cookie decoration table in which Roberge brought mushroom-shaped sugar cookies and different colored bags of frosting. The possibilities of frosting designs were endless for these mushroom cookies and attendees sure let their imagination run wild in the best ways possible.

Upon completion of this decorating, teens could head over to the multi-craft table which included making mushroom-themed felt bookmarks, mushroom-shaped clay figurines and mushroom perler-bead keychains. Everyone was able to pick whichever activity they liked to make or even do all three if they chose. All of these mushroom creations came out completely unique and beautifully made.

As attendees moved from craft to craft, Roberge could be seen walking around and lending a helping hand when needed. She additionally mentioned some inspiration/suggestions when it came to all the crafts, including mixing and matching felts to create an abstract looking mushroom for their felt bookmarks.

This one-of-a-kind mushroom-crafting experience was certainly a huge hit amongst the attendees and a perfect fit for the summertime. When the extravaganza came to an end, everyone was able to take home their amazing creations.
