Hailey McAvoy of Natick will perform a Summer Song Recital on Sunday, July 31, at 4:00 p.m. at the Pilgrim Church in Sherborn. Hailey, a rising senior pursuing a dual degree in Vocal Performance and Musical Arts at The Eastman School of Music, has also sung and studied at the Franz Schubert Institute in Austria and the Colburn School in Los Angeles. A 2013 graduate of Montrose School in Medfield, Hailey studied voice at the New England Conservatory during high school, citing the support she received from Montrose faculty as instrumental to her success. She recently returned to Montrose School as a guest performer in the first annual Spring Musical Showcase.

Her opera roles include Zosha in American composer Jake Heggie's (b. 1961) new opera, “Out of Darkness,” Mother Superior in “Sour Angelica” by Puccini and also in “Mese Mariano,” by Umberto Giordano as well as Mrs. Soames in Ned Rorem's “Our Town.” She was a featured soloist with the Eastman Wind Ensemble last April, singing Steve Danyew's Alcott Songs. Hailey has worked with Musica Nova, a group dedicated to performing modern music, and was the soloist for Luciano Berio's “O King.” She has regularly performed at Eastman and The Chatterbox Club, a Rochester, NY social club.

Hailey will perform a variety of musical selections at the recital, which is free and open to the public.
