Dora Tavel-Sanchez Luz, owner of The Farmhouse restaurant in Needham, and Needham resident Ming Cheung, a registered dietician at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital–Needham, will run the 2016 Boston Marathon® to raise money for the hospital’s new Breast Care Center.
The new center, opening later this year, will bring an integrated, multidisciplinary breast clinic to Needham, offering the most advanced imaging technology, diagnosis and treatment.
Luz feels it’s important to support the local community’s access to quality health care. When The Farmhouse opened around the corner from the hospital in 2013, she knew it was a natural fit to support the hospital.
She said, “I’m so excited that my run this year will support a new Breast Care Center in Needham. It will have a huge impact on the community. Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer among women, and early detection is the best hope for a positive outcome.”

As a Needham resident and an employee at BID–Needham, Cheung knows the hospital well.
He said, “I’m so proud to be running again for this team. I love the community and working here feels like family.”
He says his passion for helping people, combined with his love for nutrition, led him to the hospital. An employee of Sodexo®, Cheung works with patients as a registered dietician at BID–Needham.
If weight loss is a patient’s goal, Cheung can relate. “I started running right before starting college and lost 50 pounds and have maintained that for 10 years. I’m now running my ninth marathon, and I’m excited to be supporting the hospital and the new Breast Care Center.”
