Outside the temperatures were hovering in the mid-30s, but inside the Needham Library on Saturday afternoon spring had sprung thanks to the eighth annual Needham Art in Bloom display organized by the Beth Shalom Garden Club.
Scattered over both floors of the library were nearly 60 floral displays accompanied by the art that had inspired them. The art was produced by the talented students at Needham High and the floral displays were made by equally as talented members of the Garden Club.
The displays ranged from literal interpretations to more abstract and brought the colors and vibrancy of the changing seasons to the library.
The art varied as well. There were paintings, portraits, sculptures (including an art installation that was moved from the lobby of the high school to the library for Art in Bloom), and even a video that were all represented by floral displays.
Special to this year’s exhibit were several art and floral demonstrations by students and Garden Club members that showed some of the techniques that went into the displays that wowed the large crowd making its way through the library.
Every year Art in Bloom brings a taste of the spring that is just around the corner, while also displaying the creativity and talent of students and Garden Club members alike.
