JWCW Runs for the Roses at Avenir

Over 400 women arrived at Avenir in Walpole for the Junior Women’s Club of Walpole’s (JWCW) annual fashion show. The theme for 2025 was “Run for the Roses,” and the women pulled out all the stops to dress properly for a night at the races! Everyone sported a fascinator, wide brim, or floppy hat with floral or feather decorations in bright colors, while springtime dresses abounded in Avenir’s glamorous, bright ballroom with a domed ceiling, two enormous chandeliers, and many sparkling sconces decorating the walls.

First, the attendees sampled cocktails and viewed the generous raffle prizes donated by a large group of local businesses and by some further afield, as far as Providence and Bourne. Then the women enjoyed a delicious dinner served efficiently by attentive waiters. As coffee and dessert were passed around, Emcee Melissa Rush began her introductions for the evening, and called the first group of raffle prize winners.

After these preliminaries, DJ Brian Lee of Elevated Pulse DJ raised the volume with upbeat tunes and the catwalk came alive, as the club’s models strutted in three groups of casual and dressy fashions supplied by the Pink Pigeon Boutique of Wrentham and Sassy of Westwood. Hair stylists from Bela Do Art, Flair Salon, and Salon Beni created stylish looks to complement the clothing being shown, and Glendoly A. of G&G Therapeutics and Aesthetics and Melissa Hayes expertly handled makeup for the models. Melissa Rush kept up her entertaining and humorous commentary as each model walked.

Between each group of fashions, more raffle prize winners were called, women lined up for the photo booth, and others visited with friends at other tables.

All in all, the JWCW Fashion Show for 2025 was another exciting, fun, and glamorous evening! It’s not all for fun, however. Proceeds from the show will benefit local families and charities, such as the Annual Walpole Day, Concerts on the Common, Holiday Meals for Needy Families, and New Hope Women’s Shelter, among many other worthy causes. Founded in 1988, the Junior Women’s Club of Walpole is a service organization of volunteer women dedicated to the betterment of the Town of Walpole and its’ surrounding area. We strive to provide a variety of charitable, educational, social and cultural projects and programs that will enhance the lives of our community; this is the mission statement of the JWCW.

The whole community benefits from the tireless work of concerned women taking action together to help others.
