On two consecutive weekends in January, Open Fields will present a show that celebrates its 25 years of presenting musicals to the community. Under the codirection of Keith Fields and Charles River School educator and Equity actor, Sarah Clancy, “Beyond the Rainbow: Live in Living Color” will be offered at the Mudge Auditorium at the Dover-Sherborn Regional High School for an adoring audience anticipating the energy and talent regularly shown by the group.

“Beyond the Rainbow: Live in Living Color” includes numbers from modern musicals such as “Wicked,” “The Wizard of Oz,” “Godspell,” “Jersey Boys,” “Hamilton,” “Seussical,” “Six,” “Notebook,” “Peter Pan,” “The Color Purple,” and “Bring It On.” The music in the show was originally made famous by such accomplished and popular singers as Billie Elish, Frank Sinatra, John Legend, Whitney Houston, and Frankie Valli.

Open Fields was founded in 1999 by Keith and Tina Greenfield, along with a group of local parents, artists, and musicians. Its performers range from 2nd graders to high school seniors. In December 2001, Open Fields presented its first musical production, “The Wizard of Oz.” This year’s show will include 82 performers, including six seniors graduating in 2025, and the group includes students from Dover-Sherborn, Wellesley, Westwood, Needham, Acton, Sudbury, and Lexington, among others. The performers rehearse at least three days per week, starting in October.

According to 11th grader, Harper Zatylny, “In all my years at Open Fields, there has never been a rehearsal that I don’t feel loved. Keith, Tina, and Sarah have shown me love and support through everything and I owe them a lot for shaping the person I am today. The relationships I have formed with not only my peers but also my directors are relationships I will cherish forever. Open Fields has truly been the best thing to ever happen to me.”

Performances of “Beyond the Rainbow: Live in Living Color” will be held on Saturday, January 18, at 4 pm, Sunday, January 19, at 1 pm, Friday, January 24, at 7 pm, and Saturday, January 25, at 4 pm. Get your tickets at www.open-fields.info in advance or at the door. You will be amazed and entertained by the talented performances presented by Open Fields.
