With Christmas just around the corner, the Sherborn Lions Club (SLC), along with the Sherborn Community Center Foundation (SCCF) and the Committee to Celebrate Sherborn’s 350th Anniversary, hosted a festive Breakfast with Santa event on Saturday, December 7th. Families and friends gathered together at the Sherborn 1858 Town House to enjoy some fun holiday cheer along with a delicious breakfast.

When walking into the building, a “Shop Sherborn” Holiday Market was located on the first floor while the breakfast was hosted on the second. SLC members could be seen welcoming attendees into the breakfast area and explaining all they had to offer. On the menu were mouth-watering pancakes, a variety of sauces to put on top (including maple syrup and chocolate sauce), as well as an assortment of beverages.

After enjoying this indulgent meal, kids were welcome to head over to the activity table and make their very own Christmas craft. This included making some ornaments using wooden cut outs, Christmas-themed stickers, washable markers and some twine.

Either before or after crafting at this table, children and their families were invited to take their picture with the one and only Santa Claus. Upon sitting on his lap, Mr. Claus asked each child what they wanted for Christmas, in hopes that he could make their wishes come true. Attendees lit up with joy at the sight of Santa in the room with them.

Also set up in the room was a table dedicated to the SLC. Here, everyone was able to see what exactly the SLC is and what they do with the money that is raised at events like these. On one of the flyers (that were free to grab), the SLC stated that they have donated money and/or volunteer hours to organizations like Dover-Sherborn High School, Sherborn Council on Aging, Sherborn Fire & Rescue, Sherborn Library, Perkins School for the Blind, Baypath Humane Society, and more.

When speaking with Liana Morgens, Secretary of the SLC, she explained that this is the first Breakfast with Santa event that they have hosted:“This is our first event like this that we have run,” Morgens stated, “and we joined forces with the SCCF and the Committee to Celebrate Sherborn’s 350th Anniversary is co-hosting the marketplace down stairs. The idea for the event was to bring the community together and to fundraise for a lot of our many causes. We love to see community members together and what better time to do that than during the holiday season.”

This breakfast was held between 9 am and 12pm in which there were smiles all throughout the morning. It certainly got all attendees into the holiday spirit and even more eager for Christmas to arrive.
