The Dover-Sherborn (DS) girls' soccer team hosted the Dedham Marauders on Tuesday, October 8, at Nora Searle Turf. On this chilly autumn evening, spectators gathered in the stands to watch an intense matchup that ended in a 5-0 shutout victory for the Raiders.

The first half of the game was particularly exhilarating, with the Raiders scoring all five goals before halftime. DS seized control of the field from the very start and maintained possession throughout most of the first quarter.

Captain Hayden Sumner was the first to score around the 28-minute mark. Just three minutes later, Milla Lee and Rose Kim followed suit, giving the Raiders a quick 3-0 lead. As frustration mounted for Dedham, DS kept their focus and continued to execute phenomenal plays.

As the clock wound down in the first quarter, Milla Lee netted two more goals, completing an impressive hat trick. After her third goal, her teammates flocked to her, celebrating not just her individual achievement but the team's success as well.

With the Raiders up 5-0 at the start of the second half, tensions rose as the Marauders took the field again. While Dedham maintained possession for much of the second half, the Raiders showcased their outstanding defensive skills, executing agile maneuvers and precise passing.

Despite multiple scoring attempts from Dedham, both goalies stood strong, keeping the score unchanged for the rest of the match. After the final whistle, Coach Evren Gunduz commended the girls for their performance. “We really stuck to our game plan today,” Gunduz said. “I like that we played our game and tried to be the best version of ourselves. We showcased what we’re capable of, and I hope there’s even more to come. The girls should be proud of what they accomplished out there today.”

This win over Dedham improves the Raiders' record to 7-3-2. Their next matchup a home game against the Medway Mustangs on Thursday, October 17.
