The Walpole Public Library (WPL) hosted a night of jazz featuring the Linden Duo and special guest Marshall Wood. The Linden Duo, consisting of Stephanie Stone on flute and saxophone, and Mark Michaels on guitar and occasional vocals, was joined by Wood on upright bass.
The Linden Duo formed in the Linden neighborhood of Malden, where Stone and Michaels are neighbors. Stone has been playing saxophone and flute for over 35 years and has performed at many venues around New England. Michaels, a guitarist for over 39 years, is also a member of the UMass Lowell jazz faculty. Wood, who moved to New England in 1979, is a popular bassist known for touring with Tony Bennett and recording an album with Lady Gaga.
The library’s community room was filled with music fans of all ages. The trio showcased their talent through solos and seamless interactions, engaging the audience with their dynamic performance.
Throughout their two sets, the Linden Duo shared facts about jazz, captivating the audience while allowing time for instrument adjustments. Their chemistry and passion for playing together were evident, leaving the audience wanting more.
The Linden Duo and Marshall Wood performed until the library closed, delivering a memorable evening of jazz that left attendees eagerly anticipating more live music events at the Walpole Public Library.
