Ghouls, witches, princesses, wizards, and creatures of all kids ventured out to Pine Hill Elementary this past Saturday, October 28th to take part in Sherborn’s third annual trunk-or-treating event! Trunk-or-treating is an event where adults decorate the back of their cars for Halloween, load up with candy, and come sit in a parking lot for kids to "trick or treat" from car-to-car. Cars wrapped around the streets leading into and out of Pine Hill and the parking lot was filled with families adorned in their Halloween costumes to enjoy this spooktacular event.
Children weaved through the parking lot, visiting each car to play games and score on some sweet treats! “It is the perfect practice for Halloween!” one local mother remarked about the event.
Each car presented a unique theme for the children to relish. Themes ranged from Super Mario Brothers, Harry Potter, and The Grinch to Greek mythology and Arm Wrestlemania, just to name a few. Kids were invited to cast spells, arm wrestle, and shoot hoops to earn extra pieces of candy.
The Sherborn Fire Department was on hand, allowing children to explore firetrucks and ambulances while trying on firefighting gear. Interactions with the firefighters added to the excitement. Across the lot in the park, the Sherborn Public Library organized Halloween-themed arts and crafts for children to enjoy either before or after participating in trunk-or-treat.
Originally scheduled for Saturday, October 21st, the event was rescheduled to this past Saturday due to inclement weather conditions. The decision to postpone turned out to be a fantastic one, as residents were treated to unseasonably warm weather for late October.
Children relished the various trunks, crafts, and the opportunity to revel in a beautiful day at the playground. This annual event continues to bring joy and a sense of community to Sherborn as it celebrates the spirit of Halloween.
