Residents of Walpole have been in luck this summer for the ‘Concerts on the Common’ series has returned once again. The summer may be coming to a close but the music will still be playing until the end of August.
Walpole’s common is a beautiful lawned space that is nestled right in the middle of the downtown area. Used for countless events and ceremonies, it is the perfect place to sit, relax and enjoy the festivities.
So far this summer, there have been six concerts performed here and there are more upcoming as well. This past Tuesday, August 22nd, the band Soul Revival Orchestra (SRO) took the stage for one epic performance.
The weather could not have been more ideal for this concert, coming in at a cool 75 degrees. As the sun was setting, attendees could pick whether they wanted to sit in the shade or catch some more rays. No matter where they sat, the view of the band was spectacular and their music could be heard all throughout downtown Walpole.
For those who didn’t fancy sitting down for long, they were in luck because there were many people up and dancing around. No matter what age you were, SRO played some amazing jams that everyone could dance and sing along to.
As an added bonus, SRO played some songs out of their ‘vault.’ One band member stated, “Somebody asked me what kind of stuff this band plays. We have a couple of things here, I had mentioned R&B so we are going to dip into the R&B archive for this one. Remember those AM Radios? I heard this once on one of those.” Upon stating this, they then performed the song “Twenty-Five Miles” by Edwin Starr.
