Two of the top girls soccer teams in the TVL met on the pitch at Medfield High School on Tuesday as Medfield played host to bitter rival Dover-Sherborn for the first and only time this season.
The Raiders (9-1-0) entered on the heels of a 2-1 bounce-back victory against Ashland following their first defeat of the season at Dedham (1-0). The Warriors (5-3-3), meanwhile, entered Tuesday’s contest on a five-game point streak (4-0-1).
In a wild back-and-forth affair that featured three lead changes, the DS girls were able to escape Warrior country with a thrilling 3-2 victory, thanks to a late tie-breaking goal by junior Hope Shue.

Junior forward Ally Dubbs drew first blood for Medfield with 14:02 remaining in the first half, booting home a loose ball in the box to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead. Hope Shue responded for DS, hammering home a free kick from 20 yards out with 3:37 to play. The game entered halftime knotted at one.
Senior captain Cerys Balmer gave DS its first lead of the contest with 11:24 to play by heading home a corner kick. Just 26 seconds later, however, sophomore midfielder Kaitlyn Barton tied the game back at two for Medfield, booting a long-range shot from the left side that went bar-down and in. Just over a minute later, Shue potted her second of the game, this time finishing a cross from Balmer at the net mouth to give DS back the lead at 3-2 with 9:32 to play, and the eventual one-goal win.
DS will look to continue its winning ways when the Raiders travel to face Norton on October 10, while Medfield will try and get back on track at Ashland that same afternoon.
