Walpole RoboRebels enjoying successful season

What does a portcullis, moat and cheval de fries have in common with a robot? These are three of the obstacles this year’s Walpole Robotics team, the RoboRebels had to overcome to play a medieval themed game called FIRST Stronghold.

Given six weeks to build a robot durable enough to cross rough terrain, left gates and score goals in a castle tower is as complex as it sounds. The RoboRebels have not only succeeded in designing a robot to play this game, but have competed in two events, WPI and UNH Durham, and qualified to be alliance captains-a position only given to the top 8 teams.

Their robust concept has also earned the Motorola Quality Award for excellence in design.

Sponsored by RiverTaw Farms, the Gallivan Family, Analog Devices, Colligio and many other friends and family, the team will now be headed to the District Finals in Hartford, CT at the XL Center in April, with the ultimate goal of qualifying for the World Championship in St. Louis, MO.
