The Dover-Sherborn Middle School alpine ski team took to the slopes this past weekend to compete in the U12, U14, and U16 state championship races all across New England (Dartmouth, Mount Sunapee, Cranmore Mountain, Okemo).

Garrett Theberge (U12), Ethan Sveen (U14) and Addie Atwood (U14) all took home first place in their respective events after dominating the competition. Ethan’s brother, John Sveen, also took home first place in the U16 championships.

The Raider skiers competed amongst the best in the state of Massachusetts throughout the entire 2016-2017 regular season, as approximately 460 skiers made up the U12 division, and 400 made up U14.

After battling all season long, Therberge, the Sveen brothers, and Atwood made their way up into the top 40 percentile, which is the required placement in order to qualify for states. Out of the 200 or so racers who qualified for the state championships this weekend, only the top-five qualify for the final championship race. After Therberge, Ethan and John Sveen, and Atwood earned top-five finishes in their initial championship qualifier races, each of the four Raider skiers took home first place in their respective finals race.
Congratulations to the DS skiers on an incredible season and these wonderful accomplishments.
