On Saturday, May 5, a day after DS held its annual junior-senior prom, members of the Dover-Sherborn track and field team were ready to keep the excitement going, but this time the excitement wasn’t on the dance floor. DS track and field underclassmen arrived ready to compete at Saturday’s MSTCA Freshman/Sophomore Meet.

“The Freshman/Sophomore meet is a great showcase for the younger members of the team,” said DS head coach Maura Bennett. “The hard work they’ve been putting in all season can really show.”

And show they did.

During the meet, sophomore Oliver Fried won the 800-meter run with an impressive time of 1:59.84. Joseph Collins placed third in the boys javelin with a personal record of 132’9”, and for the girls, sophomore Sabrina Doyle placed third in the javelin with a throw of 97’06”.

Sophomore Tatum Evans finished fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.56 and eighth in the finals of the 200-meter dash. Sophomore Amanda Borden placed fourth in the high jump. The girls 4x800 meter relay team of Jillian Davis, Caroline Gray, Caitlin Britt and Virginia Borths placed first and the girls 4x400 relay team of Evans, Davis, Gray and Britt also finished first. Freshman Caitlin Britt also placed seventh in the mile.

The boys 4x100 meter relay team of Aidan Britt, Elliot Hammerness, Elliot Conlow and Nicholas Tuerk finished ninth. The boys 4x800 relay team of Oren Wiemeyer, Will Brown, Jacob Brown and Fried placed second. Wiemeyer also placed sixth in the 800-meter run and sophomore Will Brown placed tenth in the mile. The boys 4x400 relay team of Jacob Brown, Sam Litle, Fried and Wiemeyer finished second. Litle also placed seventh in the 400-meter dash. Freshman Ryan Britt finished tenth in the 400-meter hurdles. In the boys high jump, Conlow placed eighth and fellow sophomore team-mate Ben Williams placed eleventh in the boys javelin throw.

Later in the day, at the prestigious Weston Twilight Invitational, held at two different locations (Weston High, Regis College), the excitement continued. Senior Erik Linden broke his own school record, finishing second in the mile with a time of 4:21.35. Fellow senior Owen Searle placed tenth in the 800-meter run with a personal record time of 1:59.64. Senior Jacob Robin also competed in the 800-meter run. Senior Emma Lesser finished 13 in the 100-meter hurdles and also competed in the triple jump and long jump. Junior Brooks Burt competed in the boys 110-meter hurdles. Senior Sophia Cutler competed in the discus throw and 100-meter dash, while senior Rachel DaSilva competed in the 100-meter dash and high jump. Senior Sydney McLaughlin competed in both the 200-meter dash and 400-meter dash. Junior Danny Bennett competed in both discus and the javelin throw. Senior Lizzy Jenkins competed in the high jump, junior Sofia Federico in both the long jump and triple jump and sophomore Olivia Collins competed in the discus throw. The team of junior Scott Sirri and seniors Klaus Wiemeyer, Sebastien Dills and Cam Tanaka competed in the sprint medley relay.
