Westwood police are searching for a suspect after a bank robbery was reported at Needham Bank this morning.

According to a press release issued by the Westwood Police Department, the robbery was reported at Needham Bank at 341 Washington Street at 11:40 a.m.

The press release indicated a man allegedly walked into the bank and demanded cash. The suspect is described as a 5’10” black male with a thin build in his early 20’s and was seen wearing a grey Adidas hooded sweatshirt and a baseball cap under the hood.

The suspect is alleged to have threatened that he had a gun, but did not display one during the robbery. No injuries were reported.

After taking an undetermined amount of money from the bank, the suspect fled on foot. Police believe he entered a tan SUV operated by a black male that was waiting for the suspect a short distance away from the bank.

By the time police arrived, the suspect and the vehicle had left the area.

The robbery is being investigated by the Westwood Police, Massachusetts State Police and the FBI Bank Robbery Task Force.

Anyone with information about the robbery should contact the Westwood Police Department at 781-320-1000.
