Westwood Public Library (WPL) was full of bliss last Thursday evening when musician Evan Haller of “Music at the Blissful” regaled local children with stories, songs, and dancing.
The event, which was sponsored by the Friends of WPL, included over 45 minutes of music-themed play and dance and was appropriate for all ages. There were truck songs, frog songs, songs that you could throw scarves up in the air to, and lots of fun and laughter. The piece de resistance was the parachute play at the end, which got just about every attendee involved and smiling. Babies, toddlers, and elementary school children alike enjoyed being on top of and underneath the colorful fabric, and parents and caregivers were encouraged to let their kiddos participate as much or as little as was comfortable for them.
“I really enjoy it, and I like to do be able to offer it for free (admission) when I can,” said Haller about the program. Mr. Evan, as he’s sometimes called, hails from Needham and offers classes and programs like this one, as well as concerts and birthday parties. He just released a new CD, his third, which is titled “It’s Me, Evan!”. Several songs that he played at WPL were from the new album.
