Your blood donation on Saturday, August 6, will help avert a seasonal crisis that often occurs when many would-be donors are not available.
Vacation time or not, the need for whole blood is constant at the Dana-Farber and Brigham & Women’s hospitals, and their bloodmobile will be in Westwood once again on Saturday, August 6 -- and you are needed.
You can make an appointment between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., when the new DFBWH bloodmobile will be at the Westwood Masonic Building, 655 High Street. Avoid a long wait by making an appointment today by calling (617-632-3206) and mentioning the Westwood date.
In general, to donate blood, you should be at least 17 years old, 110 pounds or heavier and in good health, and you should not be pregnant or trying to become pregnant. Questions about eligibility will be answered when you call. Please call to cancel and wait until next time (October) if you have felt sick within 72 of your donation appointment.
Donors and their companions will be offered a waffle-pancake breakfast until 1 p.m., before or after a donation.
