Wellesley Theatre Project (WTP) is set to present Roald Dahl’s "James and the Giant Peach, Jr." on Friday, July 27, at 7 p.m., and Saturday, July 28, at 2 and 5 p.m. All performances will take place at the Katherine L. Babson Auditorium at Wellesley High School, located at 50 Rice St. Wellesley Hills.
Based on the famous novel, Roald Dahl’s "James and the Giant Peach, Jr." follows James as he is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree. There, he discovers a magic potion that grows a tremendous peach, rolls into the ocean and launches a journey of enormous proportions. James befriends a collection of singing insects that ride the giant piece of fruit across the ocean, facing hunger, sharks and plenty of disagreements along the way.
Roald Dahl’s "James and the Giant Peach, Jr." features a talented cast of forty students between the ages of seven and fourteen that comprise an energetic cast of characters! Cast members reside in Wellesley, as well as neighboring communities including Auburndale, Concord, Dedham, Franklin, Natick, Needham, Newton, Waltham, and Weston.
The Roald Dahl’s "James and the Giant Peach, Jr." production staff includes: Ben Rush, director and scenic designer; Luciana Fionda, choreographer; Jennie McGuinness, music director; Seif Cristobal, lighting designer; Ken Rush, costume designer; and Alexa Lambert, stage manager.
Tickets are priced $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors, and may be purchased online at http://wellesleytheatreproject.org in advance, or at the door for $18 for adults and $12 for students and seniors.
