Visual arts awards program open

Wellesley Parents Supporting Art Students (WPSAS) has announced the continuation of a visual arts awards program in its public school district. The Emerging Artist Awards (EAA) for Wellesley High School juniors will award two (2) scholarships for art portfolio development. Each scholarship is to be used for summer intensive art courses or fall art courses at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston through the college’s online youth education program. The program is different this year in order to facilitate online advanced art instruction. MassArt is currently modifying their summer intensives program. Anticipated courses will include: Drawing from Observation, Architecture, and Designing Characters: Might, Myth, and Magic.

Juniors enrolled at Wellesley High School are invited to submit an application for the Junior Portfolio Emerging Artist Award, which can be found online at www.wellesleypsas.org.

This scholarship program is based on artistic interest and creativity, with specific consideration given to students who have demonstrated dedication to the visual arts.

Application Deadline is Monday, May 11. Awards will be announced on Friday, May 15.
