James Stanton and Nancy MacKenzie beat out challenger Tom Brown to secure their spots on the Walpole Board of Selectmen at the annual town election on June 4.
Out of Walpole’s 17,184 of registered voters, 2,538 made it out to the polls to cast their votes for various town offices and boards. The numbers represent a 14.77 percent voter turnout.
James Stanton and Nancy MacKenzie took the two open spots on the Walpole Board of Selectmen. Stanton picked up 30 percent of the vote, and MacKenzie picked up 27 percent of the vote.
Out of 2,538 votes for Sewer and Water Commission, John Spillane beat two challengers and picked up 55 percent of the vote.
Voters also passed a single question that was up for vote. Question 1 called to make an amendment to the Town Charter to make a change to the role of Finance Director. Currently, the Finance Director must also serve as the town’s Treasurer Collector.
After the vote passed, the amendment will allow the Finance Director to serve as either the Treasurer Collector or the Town Accountant, but not in both roles.
The question passed with 69 percent of the vote.
