Walpole students donate to C2C

The seasonal call for clothing and school supplies has gone out to the community to connect with children in need.

Walpole residents Emma Webb and Jamie Savage helped by running a donation drive in both Walpole and Wellesley school systems at the end of last term. They collected coats, shirts, pants, sweaters and the like; inspected, cleaned and delivered several bags of donated clothing to the Giving Factory at the nonprofit organization Cradles to Crayons (C2C), in Brighton. Cradles to Crayons is a local organization which works with surrounding communities to collect clothing, school supplies and donations to distribute to disadvantaged school-aged children.

The timing could not have been better, as the Giving Factory was in the process of preparing for its “Ready for School” initiative, which provides essential backpacks and clothing in preparation for a child’s successful school year. Research has supported the concept that children can fall behind, emotionally and academically, when not adequately prepared for school.

“When we were at the factory we could really see our work go to good use,“ stated Emma. Jamie commented, “I was glad I was able to help bring clothes to the children who needed it, and I had fun doing it, too!”
