Walpole Robotics hosts Grill ‘n’ Chill

Walpole Robotics held its first annual Grill ‘n’ Chill social at Bird Park, a fundraiser to help the team going into next season. Countless people took advantage of the wonderful weather to come and support Walpole High’s growing robotics program. The robotics team can be found around town helping out at different events and showing off their award-winning robots.

The grass surrounding the outdoor stage was filled with families, lounging in the sun. Up on stage, local musicians played all afternoon, inviting audiences to dance and sing along. Off to the side members of the robotics team were tuning up their frisbee-throwing robot, tossing discs safely into the grass.

Beyond the stage and on the grass robotics was selling cook-out favorites: hot dogs, drinks and snacks. Next to them was the Crescent Ridge ice cream truck serving up frozen treats, and helping fundraise for the team. Further back in the grass were a few lawn games to entertain attendees, as they waited for more robotic demonstrations.

The Timberwolves Robotics Team is a budding team at Walpole High and prominent members of the community. They are involved throughout the town at tech take-apart events, Walpole Day and volunteer at the library to host STEM programs for younger kids. The Robotics Team strives to bring accessible STEM programming to everyone throughout Walpole and surrounding towns.

The team has been competing in FIRST competitions since 2015, but the team has seen a rebirth after the COVID-19 pandemic. Timberwolves Robotics is highly awarded through the FIRST leagues, and are looking forward to competing for more trophies. They will be heading into the 2024-25 school year with three competition teams and are sure to be a dominant force.

The Timberwolves are looking forward to a great season during the upcoming school year, and their Grill ‘n’ Chill was just one stepping stone. Stay up to date with the team and all of their robots through their website: walpolerobotics.org or through social media. They are looking forward to next year's Grill ‘n’ Chill event, and are excited to share with Walpole everything robotics has to offer.
