Donald Trump took the most votes in a presidential straw poll the Walpole Republican Town Committee held at the Walpole Public Library on January 27.

In total, 30 people turned out to the annual straw poll to cast their votes for president. Ted Cruz placed second with 6 votes, Marco Rubio and John Kasich tied for third with five votes, Jeb Bush picked up a fourth with two votes, and Rand Paul and Chris Christie both tied for fifth place.

Carly Fiorina, Jim Gilmore, Mike Huckabee, Rick Santorum and Ben Carson did not receive any votes.

The straw poll preceded a presentation given by candidates running for the GOP State Committeeman and State Committeewoman positions.
